ZOMBIE FLASHMOB By Sonny Zae
January 29, 2013  Short stories

“We have a problem.” Nash was so upset that color had almost returned to his face.

“What do you mean?”  Ramon looked up from the rusty knife blade he had been sharpening on a rock. (more…)

THE TWINS By G. O. Clark
  Short stories

John found the twins knee deep in the pig pen muck, bent over his two prized pigs, gnawing on their little piggy brains. Shocked and disgusted, loaded shot gun in hand, he aimed true but just couldn’t pull the trigger. Despicable and scary as they were, they were still just little kids. Blond haired, blue eyed, twin girl and boy. The twisted semblance of what he and Martha had long prayed for. (more…)

THE PEZZOLANTI COLLAR By John Kelly
January 26, 2013  Short stories   Tags:

A meeting with Dr. Pezzolanti is like? I don’t know…a meeting with Willy Wonka. One never knows what to expect, and there is a strong possibility one will end up licking a wall. I limber up my tongue by wiggling it back and forth in anticipation, but it’s doubtful I will get a word in edgewise with the good doctor. Instead, I flirt with his receptionist. (more…)

‘TIL DEATH DO US PART By C. K. Black
January 23, 2013  Short stories

I reached into the cooler to retrieve my last beer. It was warm and tasted awful, but it was still better than being sober.

From down the hall in our bedroom, I heard a thumping noise. Picking up the shotgun and flashlight next to me, I pumped a round into the chamber, and walked down the hall. (more…)

ONE BULLET By JXZ
  Short stories

I hate everyone. Living or dead, I don’t really give a damn to be quite honest. In my travels, everyone either openly wants to use you for their own good, or secretly wants to use you for their own good. At least the first group is honest about their intentions. (more…)

THE EXHIBIT By R. J. Spears
January 17, 2013  Short stories

It didn’t know when the last time it had eaten.  It could have been days, weeks, months but its mind and memory didn’t work that way.  Hunger overrode almost every thought.

What thoughts it did have were a jumble of primal images and sensory impressions.  Light.  Dark.  Sometimes hot, sometimes cold.  Noises.  Shouts.  Screams.  Grabbing.  Tearing.  Biting.  Red.  But cutting through all of these was the overriding compulsion to eat.  A gnawing hunger deep in its being, relentless and ever present.  Ravenously so, and that’s what drove it on.  Never sleeping, never really resting, always on the move. LOVE IN THE TIME OF ZOMBIES By Jason Allard
January 15, 2013  Longer stories

Vigilance watched Prudence’s slender hands as she held the rod, her index finger caressing the line.  Every time they fished he was amazed how she could tell the tremors caused by the gentle waves from those of a fish nibbling at her worm.  Her hand twitched and she started reeling in the line. UNNATURAL JUSTICE By Carrie Bailey
January 10, 2013  Humorous,Short stories

A bit of flesh dropped onto the bench with a thunk!

The judge eyed the defendant. “Mr. Pierce, when I said approach the bench, I meant all of you, not one piece at a time.” (more…)

CARRIERS By T Fox Dunham
January 9, 2013  Short stories

“Fuck orders.” Mort scratched his crotch with his rifle butt.

“We’ll check out some Rite Aid’s in Philly when we’re in town. Probably some anti-fungal shit somewhere.”

He drove the butt hard into his groin, then he spit on the body we just put down. The bullet had shattered the body’s jaw but hadn’t destroyed the brain. The rotten garbage reached for Mort, clawing at his boot. It hadn’t even finished chewing up Sanchez’ shoulder, and it hungered–always ravenous. Mort aimed his rifle. I knocked it away. (more…)

SEQUEL TO PART 3

“By change of place: Now conscience wakes despair”

Martin stared intently at the lone Colonel, and the soldier stared back. Martin watched as he stood with arms folded behind his back and chest out, a stern look on his face. It occurred to Martin that this was a man who loved power. He had seen the same stance, the same impassive look in African Generals and tin pot dictators, as their soldiers committed untold atrocities in front of his eyes. It was a look that challenged all who would stand against him. Under normal circumstances Martin would change that look to pitiful pleading.
