CONTEST DATE
September 29, 2010  Announcements

The current contest announcement will be delayed until October 20th – our apologies for the wait. TotZW has received an unprecedented number of submissions over the last few months, and we want to be sure to review 100% of them before making a decision.

  3. I don’t understand-if people send in so many stories, then why is there only 1 or 2 released each month (if we’re lucky)?

  4. Barrett,

I don’t envy him to be honest.

  5. Antichrist, not all submissions make the final cut. It takes time to shift through all the hopefulls to make way for the very best. I’ve had at least one sumission rejected as it wasn’t up to scratch. Plus although I know nothing of web deisgn I’m guessing it takes time to transfer the successful ones to the web site.

  6. TOWWZ is a high quality site so the Ed gets a large percentage that don’t pass muster, I myself have had to do 2 (or 3) rewrites as they weren’t good enough. I think he is also a working man (TOWWZ doesn’t pay the bills) so he has to fit this in around his day job.

I barely get time to write so reading hundreds of submissions must be difficult.

  7. Well, as a fomret professor I understand how long it takes to do a fair job of grading or reviewing free-form material. It takes a lot less time if you don’t have to give written feedback – So I understand both the delay and TOWWZ’s policy of not providing individual feedback. As someone who submitted a story just barely under the wire at the very end of the submission period I am prefectly happy that the editor(s) take the time they need to do the job. As someone who actually worked with a community of the living dead in Juno Beach in Florida, I’m perfectly happy to roam the Earth until they make up their minds.

  8. I, like most of us TOWWZ followers, am excited to see new material when it’s posted, and am equally disappointed when there aren’t any updates for a while. On the other hand, I’m aware that their reviewing the submissions and selecting the best for us to enjoy. I have yet to read a story that I hated and am glad that they take the time to save us from less than average work. I’ve had one story rejected and am glad they take the time to review because, really it’s not one of my best.
On an average day I’ll check the site 2-3 times for new stuff. However, if I’ve submitted some of my stuff, i’ll check the site 5 times or more!
It’s pathetic, I know. Especially since I won’t hear about my own stuff for at least a month. Sigh. I should spend that time writing.

  12. You crack me up Nick. That is, when your not killing cats or speaking some barely coherent gibberish, you crack me up. ๐Ÿ™‚
